MOTPA Futurity Rules – adopted by Board of Directors Revised 6/21/07
1. The Futurity will be a class of its own. 2. The rider must be a MOTPA member qualified to ride at the finals in any class. 3. There will be a 4-ride limit per futurity horse and rider. 4. Only the futurity horse rider pays a $25.00 entry fee per ride. Judge’s fees and secretary fees will be deducted with the balance going for scholarships. 5. One team member of the futurity horse team must change each time. 6. The team members must be MOTPA members qualified to ride at the finals but do not pay the $25.00 per ride entry fee. 7. Futurity horse must make the 1st cut of the run. 8. The futurity class will run Saturday evening of the finals following the Youth class or approximately 7:00 p.m. 9. A copy of the registration papers must accompany the futurity entry at the time of the regular MOTPA finals entry are due. 10. It will be one go around only. Time will be accumulated on all four rides. A team may call for time with only one or two assigned cattle penned. However, teams penning three cattle place higher than two, and two place higher than one, regardless of time. The fastest time on any run will place above a slower time on any other run, provided the same number of cattle are penned. Teams that pen on each run will beat teams that fail to pen on a run regardless of the number of cattle penned or time. 11. Eligible colts will be those bought at the stallion auction. Colts purchased in 2001 will be eligible for the 2007 futurity, 2002 will be eligible for the 2008 futurity, 2003 will be eligible for the 2009 futurity, 2004 will be eligible for the 2010 futurity and 2005 will be eligible for the 2011 futurity. 12. For any colt resulting from a resold breeding the owner must show proof of purchase or proof from the stallion owner that this is the resulting colt of breeding sold at the auction. 13. There will be one place paid for every 5 entries. (Ex. 1-5 colts pay one money. 6-10 colts pay two monies.) 14. No substitutions on the futurity horse. If your horse is unable to compete you will forfeit your entry fee(s) for the futurity class. 15. Rules may be added or revised at the discretion of the MOTPA Board of Directors as necessary. The MOTPA Board of Directors will hear appeals. 16. If a donated stallion is sold or otherwise unable to fulfill contract, the breeding purchaser will be given “credit” to be applied to the following years auction. The Futurity purse for the year of the original breeding purchase will be adjusted accordingly; failure of mare to settle at no fault of stallion shall not be reason for credit. Determination of credit to be made by the Board. 17. The board will designate three people to verify futurity horses age and identifying marks at the finals. A Board member, for easy identification, will mark the horse during the finals. 18. Paperwork naming mare bred, stallion, resulting colt, registration numbers for mare, stallion and resulting colt and foaling date must be submitted to the Missouri Team Penning Association by March 1, 2007 for breedings bought during the 2001-2005 auctions. Paperwork requesting information will be mailed by the association. |
